Joel Cage's dynamic, risky songwriting shines on his second LP, Nobody. Cage is a triple threat - singing, guitar-playing and songwriting are crafts he has mastered, and his songs showcase these different skills. He switches gears at unexpected moments, capturing different moods and textures within single songs. The tasty acoustic blues of "Lover", the romantic sensitivity of the title track, and the moody rock of "Baggage" keep the listener tuned in to see what happens next.

Often acoustic singer-songwriters try to embellish their music with other instruments and ambitious production which serves ultimately to taint their once simple, beautiful songs. This is not the case with Cage. Taking risks with arrangements and production, his subtle keyboards, second guitars, fretless bass and percussion color the songs and
decorate the vocal and guitar melodies nicely. One true gem is his cover of U2's "Where The Streets Have No Name", in which he displays his raw guitar and vocal power. Joel Cage reforms traditional acoustic folk and blues in his own mold, and the result is quite effective.
